The Douglas DC-6B was a piston-powered airliner produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company. It was an upgraded version of the earlier DC-6, featuring more powerful engines and increased range. Pan American World Airways, commonly known as Pan Am, was one of the major airlines that operated the DC-6B.

Pan Am utilized the DC-6B extensively in their fleet during the 1950s and early 1960s. It was a reliable and capable aircraft that played a significant role in Pan Am's global operations, serving both domestic and international routes. However, Pan Am eventually transitioned to jet aircraft, and the DC-6B was gradually phased out.

It's worth mentioning that my knowledge is based on information available up until September 2021. If there have been any recent developments or updates regarding Pan Am or the DC-6B, I may not be aware of them.
